Attend Class
FaithWorks offers a free 13-week career development curriculum designed to help unemployed or underemployed adults develop the skills necessary for long-term employment. The program of study is an innovative multimedia, employability, learning program specifically for economically disadvantaged and under-served adults. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9am to 4pm, at 1229 N. Mockingbird. Using the Adkins curriculum, FaithWorks does what other programs often neglect: It enlists students in discovering their strengths and taking responsibility for their own development and employment. As one student said: " What I like about this program is the subject is me---learning what I want to do, what jobs I could get and what I need to do to get them." Another vital part of the FaithWorks program is individual and group counseling provided at no cost to FaithWorks students. Toward the end of the semester, FaithWorks students participate in internships in local businesses of their choosing. FaithWorks students also enjoy weekly computer skills classes, as well as a Bible lesson. Join us at FaithWorks (325-437-2272) as we develop in friendships, skills, and maturity that lead to sustained employment and support for our families and ourselves. |
Class Schedule
FaithWorks meets Monday through Friday, from 9am-4pm, for thirteen weeks. Class attendance is mandatory. FaithWorks students start each day right after breakfast with a time of Psalm reading and prayer. Journaling is encouraged to get the day started off right. The Life Skills curriculum, taught by a professional educator, fills most of the morning at FaithWorks. There you will learn to identify your own skills and interests, matching them with a career path. You’ll learn where to find leads for jobs, how to write a resume, how to interview successfully, and what employers are looking for in a new hire. Then we’ll get busy finding you an internship where you will put those skills to work. When you’re not working on the Life Skills curriculum, you’ll be busy learning computer skills, conflict resolution skills, and the truths taught in the Bible that make daily living worthwhile. FaithWorks students often say that even though they learn many new skills here, they are doubly blessed by new friends and a supportive staff who really cares about them as individuals. Besides all that, the food is great! Breakfast and lunch are served every day, and the coffee is always hot. Drop by and check us out! |
